House of Nathan pauses to build a bright future
Currently based in Toowoomba, House of Nathan is a supported-living residence for women who are pregnant or have a newborn baby and, for various reasons, are unable to live at home.
Over the past 8 years, House of Nathan has provided transitionary housing to more than 60 women and their infants.
Hope Empowered, an established charity with a focus on enabling, empowering and equipping people towards a brighter future, has overseen the management of House of Nathan since July 2010.
With a mandate for fresh vision and ensuring that young women are being supported as effectively as possible, Hope Empowered has temporarily closed House of Nathan with the intent of relaunching in early 2012.
The relaunch will bring a renewed and specific focus on working with 14 to 18 year old girls who are pregnant or have newborn babies.
The house will also offer a range of professional services and opportunities tailored to empowering teenage mums for independent living and making sound choices in the areas of parenting, education, life skills, relationships, health and confidence for life.
As we look forward to relaunching this exciting initiative in 2012, we will be consulting numerous stakeholders to ensure that this is a well-resourced and leading facility and service.
